La Posada. This celebration has been a tradition in Mexico for more than 400 years.
In this tradition two people dress up as Mary and Joseph and they head the procession to find an “inn” (thus the name “Posada”).
At school our 8th Graders are the leaders of La Posada, they dress up as Mary, Joseph, the three Wise Men, the angels and the shepherds. Our 8th graders represent the journey that Mary and Joseph took to find a place to stay.
The procession is followed by the singing of a song to ask for an “inn”. The celebration ends with a prayer and then the kids enjoy breaking the piñatas.
