Hello! Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year.
St. Bartholomew Athletics is excited to start our first official year with all sports joining the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization). We know this will bring many opportunities for our student athletes and families to compete amongst other parishes in the Archdiocese.
CYO offers many sports throughout the school year. For the 20/21 school year, St. B’s will offer the following sports: Girls and Boys Basketball, Cheerleading, Girls Volleyball and Golf. These sports will be offered for boys and girls grades 5-8. Depending on the number of student athletes participating and coaches in each sport, adding a team for grade 4 is a potential option. Below I have outlined the approximate timing of each season.
Girls Basketball (Late September-Late November with a break in Oct. for fall break)
Boys Basketball (Early December-Mid January)
Girls Volleyball (Late January-Mid March)
Golf (Mid March-Mid May)
Cheerleading (during boys and girls basketball season)
As each of these sports approaches, please look for further communications regarding open gym schedules, call out meetings and tryouts. Please familiarize yourself with the athletics website stbathletics.com where you can find the schedule for all events.
It is important to note, at St. Bartholomew every athlete will make a team. We do not cut at any level. We cherish the opportunity athletics gives to each child.
FAQs regarding CYO:
-What protocols are we taking to keep the kids and coaches safe from COVID?
We are following the guidelines set from the CDC, CYO, Archdiocese, and IHSAA for all sports and gatherings. I have worked with the parish and school office to outline very specific guidelines that all of our coaches and volunteers will be following. These specific guidelines will be outlined for you before your child enters the gym.
-When will I know the schedule?
With the shift to CYO, the process of game scheduling will largely be in the hands of the CYO office. The game/match schedules typically are released 3 weeks before each season begins.
-How many games will we play?
This will vary depending on the sport. Typically each team plays 6-8 games during the regular season with 1 postseason tournament. Again, this is subject to change and will be communicated to you at the callout meeting before the season begins.
-Do I need a physical?
If you participated in St. B’s athletics last year, that physical is still valid through this year. If you are new to athletics, we will need an updated physical on file before you are able to participate in sports. This includes open gyms. You can find the physical form on our website.
-How do I register for sports?
I will send out communications via Jupiter Ed before tryouts. It is very important that you attend (virtually or in person) the call out meetings so we can get your child registered for that sport. The fees associated with playing that sport will be outlined at that meeting.
**We are always looking for coaches. If you are interested in helping coach a team this year, please reach out to me. This is a very important piece of the athletics puzzle. If you can volunteer your time in any capacity, we truly appreciate it.**
If you have any other questions regarding St. Bartholomew Athletics, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Please be on the lookout for more sport specific communications. I am excited to start the new year and hope to see many of you in the gym! Stay safe.

Meet our Athletic Director, Megan Tannenbaum!
I was born and raised on the north side of Indianapolis. I attended St. Pius X for grades K-8 and then went on to Cathedral High School. I played basketball and volleyball at Cathedral. I played travel volleyball for Munciana Volleyball Club. After high school, I played volleyball for 4 years at The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. My husband, Eric and I got married in 2012 and lived in Ann Arbor while he attended medical school and residency training at UM Hospital. We have 2 sons, Eli (4) and Max (9 months). We recently moved to Columbus a little over a year ago. Eric is working at Southern Indiana Orthopedics in Columbus. I enjoy working out. Specifically multi sport training and raising the boys!
